09/05/2016

Chimo Holdings won the top prize at the Made in Sheffield Awards 2016, recognising its impact on the historic steel city’s reputation.

The company, which makes cutlery and giftware from its base at the White Rose Works, was among six winners on a night which recognised the very finest manufacturers operating in the city region. Hosted at the Cutlers Hall, by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the event assembled almost 300 manufacturers from across the Sheffield City Region.

Keynote speeches were given by Alcoa Forgings & Extrusions president Jacques Vanier, along with Master Cutler Craig McKay. Guru-Murthy, addressing the gathered manufacturers, said that, “Now, more than ever, is the time to come together as we do tonight to celebrate and champion the companies and the individuals who are taking the products across the globe. One thing other regions and countries didn’t yet possess," he recognised, "was the ‘art’ which you have here, and that is encapsulated in the Made in Sheffield mark. It matters, it has resonance.”
